More FUN with Photos

Hi,
I think I "may" have posted these links previously - but just recently I came across a new site Photofunia.com that I have had "fun-ia" with! http://www.photofunia.com
Took photo of my granddaughter and the site uses "face" recognition to render its output - thought this looked good of her - an artist rendering a "sketch"

And here is one of my dd, which shows a photo of her ripping out our old fruit cellar in the basement - I love the duct tape elements
Here is the listing and links I have to some threads over at pcCrafter's messageboard with my own examples of Photo Fun

Also there are FREE Online Photo Editors - take a look at Photobucket.com and others
Here's one that I did a animated reflection on using the online editor Lunapic.com:
This is a photo of the boat house of the Buffalo Canoe Club located at Point Abino, Ontario Canada, of which I am a member - my dad and late husband raced their Lightning class sailboats out of this venue for many yrs.

Today is My Birthday!!

I had looked forward to this milestone for a couple of years - turning 62 knowing I would be able to start collecting my very own Social Security check. My husband and I looked at this money as our "traveling" funds - we were going to go more places, do more eating out, etc. etc.
But alas...some things just aren't meant to be. My dear sweet Paul - passed away in April 2008 - and I am fortunate to be collecting Social Security checks based on his income. But its just a single check coming in now and that combined with his own invested retirement funds that I take a draw on each month - that's my "fixed" income that I have to live on "ALONE"

I am in the midst of getting our home that we've owned for 37 yrs ready to put up for sale later this summer. Home was built "homemade" - in 1925 - For SALE - one well used and loved home
I will be moving to Florida to be near my older dd and the grandkids. Even though I think I am making the right choices - its still hard looking forward to my life ahead - with out Paul in it and all the plans we had talked and dreamed about.

But - My blessings are many as I celebrate this Birthday and for that I am most grateful. Life is GOOD!!
My youngest daughter was here for the past 2 weeks doing literally a TON plus of work. She did all kinds of odd jobs around the house, from plumbing, to tearing down the old fruit cellar in the basement and cleaning out all the "stuff" that my husband had been hoarding all for "future" projects. He had a "metal" storehouse of things. She took 3500+ pounds (more than a TON) of metal parts out of the basement and to a scrapyard. Got it all out by herself and a little help from a friend. I had a "honey do list" for her before she came, and she got the majority of it done. She'll be back later in the summer.
And my older daughter is coming too in August, and she'll be holding the "yard" sale of all my stuff, that I've decided to give up and not take with me to sunny Florida.
Boy have I got STUFF!!

My younger daughter gave me a combo gift for Mothers Day and My Birthday - an afternoon at a Spa - got a Full Body Massage and Facial - then we went out to a delightful dinner by a creek and waterfall - an absolutely delightful day
Here we are...all relaxed
To any of you celebrating a May 19th Birthday - I wish you a Very Happy one and a super year ahead. To everyone else a Very Happy Un-Birthday to YOU!!

Friday I am going out to Lunch with 2 dear friends. Birthdays are truly a day worth remembering - of our own individual unique "creation" and "birth" of "us". I was lucky enough to be born to amazing parents and have loving siblings. LIFE in general has been very good to me. I've found and experienced LOVE, Adventure, and Surprises all around me.

My new normal is waiting somewhere ahead of me...I'll get there. My sweet Paul is with me always and I cherish the memories of our wonderful life and see him in our beautiful (inside and out) daughters & grandkids - every day!

Enjoy your Life - its precious and you have the freedom to make it the best it can be.

Not much blogging going on from me

Hi,

I am in the middle of preparing my home to put on the market later this summer. So won't be spending alot of time online or blogging or visiting some of my favorite blogs.
I have 40+ yrs worth of accumulation of "STUFF" in my home to go through. My dear late husband also was as much a collector and keeper of everything and anything - as I am. There are lots of decisions to make on what I'll keep and or want to save for my new life in Florida some day.
Wish me luck..I'll try to post some pics of my progress.

Update 4/28/2009 : My sister (who came up from Florida for me) helped me go through my clutter the past couple weeks - and I made decisions on lots of items. She packed up 100 small to medium boxes of things "I" am saving and going to put in storage so that the house is less cluttered when I stage it for selling.
Eventually - I'm going to have to hold a large Yard Sale...and then donate what doesn't sell.

Wow what a overwhelming process this whole thing is.
Next week the POD arrives and the boxes will get put in there and then go to a storage place.
Kinda crowded around here now.

Box for a Week of Teas

Hi,

I used the free tuckbox template creator website, to make a tuck box that fits 7 Bigelow Teabags. I thought it would make a nice little gift idea to give to a friend or put in a gift basket, etc.

Here are some examples of my box, now remember - I'm still new to this printing, cutting, scoring and folding part of putting things together:

Graphics credits: pcCrafter.com Debbie Mumm's Spring Bouquet creatable. Update Note: PC Crafter is no longer selling Clipart Sets. and will be offline as of Spring 2012.
If you're interested - here's the template I made - if you'd like to snag it - click on the link and then right mouse click on the image and save to your own computer.
Template for Teabox holds 7 Bigelow teabags.
for me it works best to print "Exact Size" (*fits on a 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock)

Tutorial - how I use the Tuckbox maker website making a template and working with it using Microsoft's Digital Image Suite 2006 software program

My Easter-tea card & free card templates

I am a Tea Pot and Tea Stuff collector. So for my Easter card to my friends and family this year - I made a Tea Pot themed card front. Looks better in person ;-)

Graphics Credits: pc Crafter's Debbie Mumm's Easter creatable, and
Carolee Jones' Spring Bunnies 2 Update Note: Spring Bunnies by Carolee Jones can now be found on Daisie Company's website - as of spring 2012.(Some bunny loves you) and the Flower line is from Carolee Jones' Spring Bunnies

Backgrounds are from various pcCrafter creatables.
visit: http://www.pccrafter.com for purchasing any of the Creatables (Clipart sets) used. Update note: as of 2012 pccrafter no longer sells clipart and will be offline as of Spring 2012
I will put inside some teabags, and do my own writing as these particular cards are blank inside.
I use Microsoft's Digital Image Suite 2006 for the majority of my Graphics Playtime and I made a template of the Easter Blessings card that you are welcome to snag.
If you own Digital Image they are in png plus format and will be in layers. But if you own any other digital/photo editing program - the files will be flat. I colored in some areas - as I use them as "fill" layers and you can use your Magic Wand selction tool in your graphics program and fill as well with background papers or photos, etc.
Some software program examples that have magic wand tools:
Adobe's Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Corel's PaintShop Pro, and Microsofts Digital Image, there are others too, but those are the most popular ones used by crafters (*that have the Magic Wand selection tool)
Because these files are quite large - just right mouse click on the links below and save link as or save target as and download the files to a location on your computer that you will remember and associate for such images.

Black full page - blank Easter Blessings

Template with different sections (in layers if you have MS Digital Image) colored in for selecting with magic wand tool and filling:

*note this page hasn't been updated - so some links may be nonworking.

Shhhh...Librarian and other folks Google Search tips

You can take the gal out of the Library but not the Library out of the Gal...
I worked for 23 yrs in a Hospital Medical Library as a Library Technician (a library assistant, support staff, paraprofessional, - what ever the name, I was a GOOD ONE!!)
I retired at the end of 2004.
I even had developed my own website with resources just for support staff....but sadly - once I retired I veered away from tending to my site and it sits now sadly negleted and a shadow of its former self - once used by many as a good resource for Library Support Staff.
I probably will at some point just take it all down :-(
like they say all good things come to an end someday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway on a more positive note - folks often ask me "how I know what I know" or how "I find" what I find so easily. Well - there are tricks to the Internet search - answer seeking - that I thought I would share with you - but only via these internet links:
