Think Outside the Frame

2015 >> UPDATE to this Post  Sept 2015 <<  - this originally was written in April 2011, and in four short years, most of the websites I linked to are now gone -
I have tried to edit and/or removed the links that no longer work.
Please remember that websites and online businesses go out of biz or move to a new web addy - Everyday in cyberspace - so if something is important to you, copy and paste information you find useful to a word document for your personal reference. And if you see something in a digital webstore that really calls to you, buy it or do it very soon.  The majority of artists that I use their clip art in digital and real life creations - that I bought via digital stores, are NO LONGER selling their art in downloadable kits or collections.  I  bought from places such as PCCrafter, Aimee Asher and from artists that once upon a time sold digital art sets at Daisie Company
(Note: Daisie Company.com still is open and sells the art of Gina Jane - a former pccrafter artist)  Laurie Furnell and Tammy DeYoung are 2 other former pccrafter artists that now have Etsy stores.

Original post:
Hi,
Happy Spring & Everything!!
On Wednesday and Thursday this past week we really had some wild weather round these parts of Florida. I think they had 7 tornado's touch down within 50 miles of my house!!

On Saturday my grandkids were here for a little while and Mariah and I took a walk around the neighborhood soaking in all the wonderful "SUNSHINE" and looked at how green and flowery everything was. When we were walking, she approached a wee butterfly on the sand of an empty lot (I think someone is going to build on it soon - fingers crossed) and the butterfly flew to her finger and stayed with her through a good portion of our walk. She kept trying to let it go by all the various flower patches we passed along the way...but it kept staying on her hand till we found just the right spot ;-)

I have more or less just used tutorials made for other software programs, and adapted to the tools I have in my Microsoft Digital Image software to create my out of bounds or out of the frames compilations.

Here are some links that you may find helpful in doing some of these types of things yourself:

Fun trip to Indianapolis

I took my granddaughter to Indianapolis for a few days. We visited my younger daughter. She works at the Indianapolis Zoo as a Vet Tech in the Zoo Hospital. My dgd was able to shadow her on the job for a day. My daughter had arranged with some of the Animal Keepers..some one on one time with a few of the Animals, My DGD had an excellent adventure! We also visited in Indy the Butterfly Gardens and the Indianapolis Childrens Museum. Wonderful trip, great memories, and 900 pictures to sort through. Click on picture to see full web size

Scrapbook Paper Wreath

Found directions for a wreath that uses scrapbook paper that I thought my grandaughter would enjoy making. I was right. She does have fun paper crafting.
Here's the web link I found this easy project at:

Trumpeting in the Season

Went to my grandson's Winter concert on Friday night. Josh is in 6th grade and just started with the Trumpet 3 months ago to play in the schools beginner Band. His school has a very large Band program 300+ kids. His beginning band has about 100 kids in it. Their concert featured portions performed by each of the 3 band groups, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced or the "Marching Band".
I was very impressed with Josh's group - they did 6 songs, and if there were any mistakes along the way, I don't think the audience noticed. Of course the "trumpet" section sounded "perfect" ;-)

Thanksgiving - all about Giving Thanks

I am a very blessed woman, for that I am Thankful!!
This year I spent Thanksgiving with my older daughters family (who I live with till my new house is built) at a Time Share Resort - Bonnet Creek - located in Orlando FL, that we booked for 4 days 3 nights. The kids had a great time in the pools and game room, plus they flew paper airplanes off the balcony (we were on the 13th floor) to one of us waiting below. My younger sister and her husband came from Jacksonville to share the day of feasting with us...and they cooked up a major portion of the "feast". They brought the Turkey & all the fixings, plus a Pecan and a Pumpkin Pie. We contributed a Ham, Rolls, Cheesecake & Carrot Cake. For all of that I am Thank - FULL!

For Dessert we had a nice selection too

One Happy Family!

The Building Process for My new home is getting underway - For this I am Thankful.

I am still trying to figure out my New Normal Life without my sweet Paul - but I am thankful that I have the opportunities that lie ahead of me, family and friends that Love and Support me

For Florida...it was a bit on the cool side on Thanksgiving Day - when my sister and I went out to sit and watch the kids in the pool - we needed sweatshirts and an extra towel ;-) But I'm not complaining, nor were the kids.

Good times, good days

Some days are better than others for me. I still miss my sweet Paul soooo much. The grief process is a long one, but I know I'm on the right path and that Paul is forever watching over me.

Living here in Florida for the winter, with my daughter and family has been absolutely very good for me. Watching my beautiful grand kids experience life and being able to share parts of their lives with them has been quite enjoyable.
Monday night was the Boy Scouts Blue & Gold Awards Dinner. Laura is Josh's Den Mother. It was a terrific evening. Laura's troop won the Spirit Award Trophy for best themed table decor and Laura herself won the "Spark Plug" award.
Here's a photo of Laura with her "guys"

Being able to share in such moments is a True Blessing that I'm not taking for granted.
All in all - Life is Good and I am savoring the smallest and largest moments in each day.

Which Craft or Witch Crafter am I

For those that have followed me and my posts on the community forums I belong to, they understand that I much prefer "digital" playtime on my computer. I like creating using my Microsoft Digital Image software and learning and experimenting with what that program can do. But I don't like or have alot of patience for actual Print and Assemble crafting or sewing, or real life "scrapbooking" etc. Both of my sisters, my older daughter and my grandkids - are all in to crafting, and creating. They didn't get it from me or my Mom, where that gene kicks in from I'm not quite sure.
Now I do like coming up with "IDEAS" for things, and I like making suggestions, and I'm more than willing to compile or make something on the computer, print it out and Have "SOMEONE" else put it together. That's OK with me, to let them cut, score, fold, tape, glue and "make" it nice.
Spending my first winter as a Snowbird in Florida living with my dd and grandkids, has really found me - attempting to craft a bit more and enjoy the talented folks that surround me.
My dgd - came to me the other night and wanted to use the "new" Zutter Pink Bind-it-All that I just got for the family. She just wanted to punch the holes for a paper box she was making from scrapbook paper - no one else had used it yet, so I said sure go ahead, let her cut away or punch some holes - soon after she appeared with her "12x12x4inch" box.
Last month for Christmas, my granddaughter and I created "Paper" Village using graphics by Laurie Furnell an artist for pcCrafter
See our project pictures on this webpage of mine
And here's a few more links of some things my grandkids have done and "me" too - ya just never know "which" way I'm going in this Crafting thingy

I am considering maybe doing some iron on t-shirts for Valentines Day, or Easter/Spring - I only have a gazillion graphics to choose from, so not quite sure "which" I will choose.
Happy Crafting - which ever type of crafter YOU are.
